Last month I spent more than two hours making arrangements to have our land line phone service disconnected. What should have been one easy call turned into a nightmare. Finally, a customer service representative initiated the necessary plans.
I wasn’t sure things would go smoothly. Thankfully, there were no interruptions to the remaining services offered by our provider. Since that time, we have enjoyed additional peace and quiet.
We no longer have those pesky calls about our credit being okay, but . . . , no more calls asking for charitable donations from companies with less than stellar reputations, no more spoofing, and, best of all, no more political calls. Discontinuing land line service may not work for everyone, but for us, it has been a blessing.
This brings me to my New Year’s message. Making formal resolutions isn’t on my radar. I’ll continue to give thanks for my family and friends, grateful for the many ways they touch my life. I’ll keep those habits that serve me well. I’ll contribute my time and talents where God leads me. If you want to call that a resolution, okay.
I know there will be challenges, and there will be gains and losses. I try to focus on those few things I have control over, roll with the punches, so to speak, and leave the rest to God. Life works better when I do.
My prayer for you, as we enter not only a New Year, but a new decade, is that you will have His peace and quiet in your life, that you will be surrounded by friends and family who love you, and that He will grant you the strength and wisdom to handle whatever challenges come your way.
